Lantern Festival

So Jason and Josie went to see the lantern display at the Changhua Arts hall after church on Sunday. These are some of the images of what they saw while they were there. Remember, it is the year of the Ox.

Sock Boy!

Yeah, so his favorite thing in the world now is getting into the socks... Folded or not folded, he doesn't care. He will pull them apart so he can have one. He will stick the sock in his mouth and then crawl around the house with it hanging out... Much like a dog and a bone....

Josie Art and More Strawberries

So Josie went to her art class the week after our strawberry trip and I am sure the teacher asked, "What did you do over Chinese New Year?" Josie really like strawberry picking. She drew her picture with a strawberry theme. It's amazing what details kids remember. Yes, there were mountains in the background... See the butterfly? Well, Jason found a strawberry that looked like a butterfly. And of course our family is in the picture. Can you tell who is who?

The Loss of a Great Lady

On our Saturday, Canada's Friday, we were told that my Grandma Marsh had a massive stroke and was in a coma. They didn't expect her to live much longer. Grandma lived in Saskatoon and mom and dad live in Edmonton. Dad made the trip out there immediately. It was such a comfort to find that when he got there and when Grandma heard his voice, she woke up a little, opened her eyes and acknowledged that he was there. On our Sunday, their Saturday, Grandma passed away.

I am so glad that we were able to make the trip to see her this summer. I am so grateful that she was able to see Josie again and meet Jevin.

We will miss you dearly, Grandma.

Strawberry Picking

On the last Friday of our Chinese New Year vacation we went with our friends Shadow and Emerson to a town in Mioli County to pick strawberries. Josie loved the idea of picking the fruit herself. Jason took her out into the garden with their basket and the brought back enough to fill two boxes; a small box and a large box.
Above: Shadow with son Ulysses. Below: Emerson with son Ulysses.

Ulysses and Jevin are only two months apart... but who is older...? Ulysses weighs between 11 and 12 kilos and Jevin weighs 9.5 kilos (We know because we took him to the doctor that day... story later.) They are about the same height as well. So who is older? JEVIN!!! I don't understand why he's a little shrimp. He eats like a little piggy. He eats everything (except boiled chicken breast).
After we went to a restaurant for some traditional Hakka food. Josie of course loved it. She hates my food (story later). I took a picture of the dog because I thought it was sooooo cute that the dog got her own seat at the table. And she is wearing an egg backpack. Too cute.

We were sitting at the other table. There were seven of us at that table. Jevin was in a high chair. It had a table but not a seat belt. Oh, hindsight. Seven of us and not one person saw it happen. I turned to get some boiled radish for him and bang. He was on the floor. I couldn't even remember what position I picked him up in. I was freaked right out, but he seemed fine. He cried for a bit but then he was okay. Jason continued to feed him. Jevin ate a whole bowl of rice. (Piggy, piggy, remember.) After we made our way back to Changhua, we took him to the hospital just in case. I told the doctor that I thought everything was fine but that I would feel better if he would check him out. He did and as we suspected, he was fine. THANK GOD!!!

And on God... here's Josie's story... So Josie has a Taiwanese stomach. She loves rice more than any food in the world. And she hates Western food (except pizza, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, fries...). Basically she hates healthy western food. So last week we were saying out night time prayers. "Now I lay me down to sleep...." When she was finished I asked her if there was anything she wanted to say thank you to Jesus for. "Thank you for Mommy and Daddy. Thank you for Jevin and DeeOgee. Thank you for food. It's delicious but not Mommy's food." Ummm, ouch, thanks Josie.

Hanging Out

So the kiddos were hanging out and playing together. Josie looks a little cross eyed, eh? Jevin had a great smile below but there is a better picture of his new Chinese threads below that one.

And then Daddy brought a toy out. Well, not a kids toy... but a toy nonetheless. He had a laser light. You know, the red light thingy. We had always used it to tease DeeOgee. But we have a new rug-rat to torment now... So he flashed it on the carpet and wouldn't you know it... Jevin chased the light. But showing his IQ is greater then DeeOgee's, he found the source and lost interest. However, it never gets old for DeeOgee.

Bath Time

Giggle...

Josie Regresses - Again

So Josie has been getting into the wheel-less walker. Technically it is hers. It lost its wheels early in life and we just used it as a livingroom high chair. Needless to say, it has been passed on to Jevin. It's his snack table. As you can see below, he was not too impressed with her taking over 'his' table.

Chinese New Year

Okay... not the best picture, but the only one with them in their Chinese clothes before Josie destroyed her dress.

Josie's Art Work...

This is the end result of the last art class in Changhua. There is a fish (red), a dragon (green) and a little girl (peach).
But this is what it started as... You see the teacher started telling stories about lanterns... Josie has no knowledge of lanterns. She doesn't go to temples. She was completely lost. But she managed to come up with the picture at the top.

This one is from school. I am assuming it is a lucky radish for Chinese New Year.

The World from Josie's Eyes... January 2009

He probably doesn't like the nose or something....
Wait... Maybe he's used to it now.
Josie certainly likes the nose.
At Jessie and Nathan's house for Joey's birthday. (Incidentally, for those of you who don't know... Joey is also a Josephine.)

Jevin Is Trying Really Hard to Walk

Daddy and Jevin having some laughs. Same hats and same shirts... well, no. Not really.
And then Jevin was walking with a little walking toy that Josie used when she was little too. Of course, once he figured out how to do it without using his knees on the ground, he got around a lot faster... A little too fast to get a focused picture. Sorry about that.

And here is poor DeeOgee running from the new biped. He was so used to just being able to jump over him, but now he has to run away from that noisy toy with baby attached.
